Welcome to Elite Performance Tumbling

     HERE IT IS; THE FIRST ENTRY IN MY BLOG WHERE I WILL COVER DIFFERENT TOPICS RANGING FROM COMPETITIONS, NERVES, PLATEAUS, COACHING, TIPS AND A WHOLE LOT MORE. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU’RE A VETERAN ATHLETE OR COACHING A PROGRAM LOOKING FOR SOME FRESH IDEAS; I’M HERE TO HELP. ON TOP OF FINDING DIFFERENT RESOURCES, THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN GET TO KNOW ME A LITTLE MORE AND HEAR MY THOUGHTS ON RANDOM TOPICS OR RANTS (I’LL TRY AND KEEP THE RANTS TO A MINIMUM.) The Champion Mindset

     TO KICK MY BLOG OFF, I WANT TO COVER A SUBJECT THAT A LOT OF ATHLETES SOMETIMES STRUGGLE WITH, CONFIDENCE. NO MATTER HOW GREAT YOU MAY BE AT A GIVEN SPORT OR JOB, THERE ARE TIMES THAT THE CONFIDENCE AND BELIEF IN OURSELVES DROPS. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF IT’S DUE TO PAST EXPERIENCES, INPUT FROM PEERS/COACHES, OR JUST OUR OWN INSECURITIES; THE CHAMPION MINDSET IS HARD TO KEEP AT 100! NOW THERE ISN’T A “ONE SIZE FITS ALL” SOLUTION WHEN IT COMES TO BUILDING A CHAMPION MINDSET, BUT HOPEFULLY BY THE END OF THIS YOU’LL HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING AS TO HOW YOU CAN HAVE A CHAMPIONS MINDSET.

     SO WHAT DO WE DO WHEN WE FIND OURSELVES DOUBTING OUR CAPABILITIES? WELL, FOR STARTERS WE CAN ASK OURSELVES WHO OR WHY THE DOUBT STARTED. WAS IT A TEAMMATE MAKING A COMMENT? DID YOUR COACH GIVE YOU A CRITIQUE OR GET MAD AT YOU? OR WAS IT JUST YOUR OWN INSECURITIES THAT CREEPED THIER WAY IN? MORE OFTEN THAN NOT; IT’S THE LATER.

     WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMIES WHEN IT COMES TO MOVING FORWARD NOT ONLY IN SPORTS, BUT MOVING FORWARD IN LIFE. WE’RE OUR BIGGEST AND HARSHEST CRITICS, BUT WITH THAT THOUGH, WE CAN ALSO BE OUR BIGGEST FANS. IT JUST TAKES A DIFFERENT THOUGHT PROCESS.

     INSTEAD OF BEATING YOURSELF UP FOR HAVING DOUBTS, MAKE A LIST OF ALL THE GREAT THINGS YOU CAN AND HAVE DONE! THINK OF EVERY TIME YOU’VE STUCK YOUR TUMBLING OR “HIT” THAT STUNT. WHEN MAKING YOUR LIST, DON’T FIGHT THE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS THAT MAY COME IN. LET THEM COME IN AND JUST GO RIGHT BACK OUT. SO WHAT IF YOU LANDED ON YOUR KNEES DURING THAT PASS; HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU LANDED ON YOUR FEET?! REMIND YOURSELF WHY YOU’RE ON THAT LEVEL OR IN THAT TUMBLING PASS. YOUR COACHES PUT YOU THERE FOR A REASON, TRUST ME.

“YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE YOU’RE THE BEST TO BE THE BEST.”

     AT THE END OF THE DAY, IF ALL YOU EVER FOCUS ON ARE THE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS, THEN THAT’S ALL YOU’LL EVER FEEL TOWARDS A CERTAIN SKILL, PRACTICE, OR COMPETITION. YOU NEED TO ENTER EVERY OBSTACLE WITH AN OPEN MIND. THIS DOESN’T MEAN YOU SHOULD BE OVERLY CHEESY AND HAPPY ABOUT IT, BUT JUST GO INTO IT KNOWING IT’S A NEW DAY.

     ONCE YOU’VE CHANGED YOUR THOUGHT PROCESS AND HAVE BECOME OPEN TO FAILURE, THEN YOU’LL REALIZE THERE’S NOTHING TO DOUBT AT ALL BECAUSE THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FAILING; JUST LEARNING. FROM THAT POINT FORWARD, NEW SKILLS WON’T CAUSE YOU TO DOUBT YOURSELF AND CRITIQUES WON’T MAKE YOU SHUT DOWN. FROM THAT POINT FORWARD, YOU’LL BELIEVE YOU’RE THE BEST BECAUSE YOU’RE ALWAYS LEARNING.FROM THAT POINT FORWARD, YOU’LL HAVE THE CHAMPION MINDSET.
